AmeriCorps is a service program through the Corporation for National and Community Service, a federal program dedicated to helping nonprofits and other organizations fight poverty and improve communities across the country.

Our AmeriCorps members, Kelly (Volunteer Coordinator), Megan (Project Coordinator), and Hannah (Construction Crew Leader) are all full time volunteers. They receive a modest living stipend and commit to serving Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County from 10.5 to 12 months. Kelly and Megan both attended East Lincoln High School and Appalachian State University before returning to their hometown to serve those in need and help make the dream of homeownership a reality. Hannah, also an Appalachian State alumna, has previously served in the AmeriCorps program in Montana, working to preserve our country’s beautiful national parks. To date, our AmeriCorps members have served more than 5,000 hours at Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County (in only 2 years!!).

AmeriCorps Week is all about celebrating community service and committing to #GetThingsDone. In honor of the AmeriCorps program and the thousands of communities served since its formation in 1994, our AmeriCorps members are going to serve dinner at the Hesed House of Hope in Lincolnton on Wednesday, March 14th. If you would like to donate any items in honor of AmeriCorps Week, please see the link below for more information!
