Coming Soon...Two New Homes!
Meagan and Dominque
In March of 2015, Meagan attended a Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Orientation to learn how she could achieve the dream of becoming a homeowner. Meagan is currently married to Dominique; together they have 3 daughters, ages 1, 4, and 14. In June 2015, the family was officially accepted into the Habitat Homeownership Program. Since then, all members of the family have been diligently working towards their overall goal of a forever home.
As with many families, Meagan and Dominique have struggled to find decent, affordable housing for their family. They have moved to three different homes since beginning the program with all the homes being in substandard or overcrowded conditions.
Meagan and Dominique have successfully completed their financial literacy requirements and continue to work towards the 250 required sweat equity hours through construction, volunteering at our ReStore, and with other community agencies. Their oldest daughter and Meagan have contributed a total of 104 hours in the education category alone. This category provides an opportunity for partner family children and adult members to better themselves through letter grades on report cards and the completion of college courses.
To date, the family has earned a total of 238 sweat equity hours together. Construction of this family’s home is scheduled to begin mid-March. Through this family’s hard work and dedication, the help of volunteers and supporters, their dream of having a forever home is closer than ever.
Maria Teresa applied for the Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program in February 2015. The dream of becoming a homeowner and providing a safe, decent home for her daughter, age 13, proved to be harder than expected. Due to the family’s limited income, obtaining a conventional mortgage was not an option.
Maria Teresa has displayed her passion and dedication to the Habitat Homeownership Program with her continued volunteer efforts. Maria Teresa reached the required 250 sweat equity hour requirement by the end of 2016. Unfortunately, adversity soon presented itself to this family. Maria Teresa, employed with the same company for over 10 and half years, learned that the company was closing its doors. However, this event did not dampen Maria Teresa’s dreams or ambition. She quickly found employment elsewhere and has continued with the Habitat Homeownership Program.
Maria Teresa and her daughter have solidified their dedication to the program time and time again. By the end of summer, Maria Teresa and her daughter will have successfully completed the program and achieved the dream of becoming a homeowner.

Rosanny, our newest homeowner, worked diligently in the Habitat Homeownership Program in order to provide a home for herself and her two daughters, Anali and Leanna. After volunteering at the Habitat Office, helping construct her own home, participating in homeowner education and taking financial classes, her hard work has finally paid off. Rosanny completed a total of 264 sweat equity hours and officially became a homeowner on November 23, 2016 with the help of James Hodges of The Pendleton Law Firm. Her heartwarming home dedication took place on November 13th, 2016 where she and her two daughters cut the ribbon to their beautiful new home. We are so proud of Rosanny and all she has accomplished and wish her the best of luck in her new life as a homeowner!
